Flea Marketing

At the beginning of June my sister, Megan, and I had our first flea market booth.  We had a lot of fun and plan to do it again next year!  Megan makes jewelry out of silver plate spoons and forks, and she sold a lot of necklaces.

I didn't sell as much as Megan, but it was still a lot of fun and very interesting to see what items were popular and what didn't sell at all.  I was thankful that this chalkboard coffee table I had made sold!  We found it on the side of the road several years ago and all the glass squares were missing or broken.  So I cut some thin plywood to fit, and painted each square with chalkboard paint.

Megan still has a few of her necklaces left, and she recently listed them in her new Etsy shop.  So, if you would like one, you still have the opportunity!  They are really pretty and unique.

Here is the link to her shop if you're interested!

Summer Activities

I am a big believer in summer break.

Lazy afternoons, sipping on popsicles or eating watermelon, are just what kids need after a busy school year of activities.  School is good in many ways but it just doesn't leave much time for imagination or exploration.

So we are enjoying the more relaxed pace around here.

Except when it's wheat harvest and bean planting time, like it was this week!
The men have been working hard this week, and it's a great feeling to know your wheat is all cut and soybeans are planted when it starts raining.

Without home school to worry about I have had a little more free time the last few weeks, so I've been sewing.  I have put a few things in my Etsy shop again, so feel free to check it out!  The link is in the sidebar.

I hope you are having a little break this summer too~

Rose Tea Time

Life is busy these days!  I haven't blogged in a month and life just keeps moving by, faster and faster, like they always say.  Miss E and I finally were able to have a tea party again last week, and although the weather was rather hot we enjoyed our iced sun tea in our pretty rose tea cups, along with some banana bread.

I have included a quote our pastor used in a sermon recently, I really appreciated it and desire this to be true of me.  Mercy triumphs over judgement.  James 2:13

When we are given our rewards, I would prefer to be found to have erred on the side of grace rather than judgment;

to have loved too much rather than too little;
to have forgiven the underserving rather than refused forgiveness to one who deserved it;

to have fed a parasite rather than to have neglected one who was truly hungry;
to have been taken advantage of rather than to have taken advantage;

to have believed too much in my brothers rather than too little;
having been wrong on the side of too much trust than too much cynicism;
to have believed the best and been wrong, than to have believed the worst and been right.
